One trap - I've noticed in using this sort of book as reference for everyday psychology is that sometimes the advice isn't very realistic. "Just laugh off a bully" isn't very effective for a kid whose ethnicity/disability/etc make them a target, yet that's the advice above cite gives. And other examples as well, so take with a critical eye.
